I don't know about where you live, but here it has been a long, hard winter, and I am ready to go Crappie fishing. I used to fish all winter and caught more fish in winter than in summer. I've have a good customer in Wisconsin, who told me he had been fishing in the Bath Tub for 2 months. I'am not quiet to that point, but ready to go. Had another person tell me the Ice Fishing was great in Wyoming. He invited me to go with him and it sounds like a great trip. Said he was really catching Crappie, Smallmouth and Walleyes. Weather was below 0, but he has a heater and said it was really comfortable.
I really enjoy talking to people from different parts of the country. I have talked to fishermen in FL, GA, AL, LA, & TX who say the fishing is really heating up. The Hottest Crappie Lure that I am selling now, is the Hot Grubs. I am also selling the other crappie jigs, but just not as many.
The factory is very busy this time of the year. You should try to order in as early as possible and remember, when you order in larger quantity, when available, the prices are much better. We have a lot of kits for the beginner as well as the old pros. They are also great gifts for Fathers Day, Birthday, Graduation or other occasions. We also have kits for the trollers. Don't forget the little fellows, who want his own baits. The small kits are great for this and it also will keep them from rearranging your tackle box.
I have been writing on this for two weeks and by the time it is finished the Crappie will be spawning. The Crappie are starting to move in our part of the country. AR, TN, MS and probably all parts of the South.

I'm playing catchup, it's been a couple months since I have given a fishing report . For the most part, fishing has been good this summer in the Mid-South area. I have been fishing the Core of Engineer lakes in North Mississippi for the most part and catching a lot of fish.
In the Corp Lakes, in North Mississippi, there is a length size limit, which is 12". A 12" Crappie is a pretty good fish. This summer we are having to catch a lot of fish to get 15 to 20 keepers. The people who troll, usually do a little better, but that is not the way I like to fish. Don't have anything against it, I just like to feel the bite with a tight line.
We seem to have caught more fish, this summer on the Stinger Baits. The 2" Stinger Shad has been our best bet and the best colors for us has been the Albino, Cajun Shad and Blue Thunder. We have caught more fish on these baits, but we have fished them more.
My Wife Shirley, and I have also spent a lot of time on Norfork Lake, in Northwest Arkansas. We have a trailer parked up there and its pretty nice. Only problem, it is hard for me to catch Crappie in clear water in the Summer. I would appreceiate any help I could get from you on how to fish clear water. E Mail that information to me and I will post it on this page. I can catch fish in the late fall, winter and spring, but Summer, I have a problem.
I have been hearing that fishing is beginning to pick up everywhere. I have talked to lots of people from the South, who say the fishing has been good all summer, but the weather has been hot. It has also been hot in the North, but the people who go, usually catch fish.

2009 has been a great, but challenging year for Shirley and I. We retired, after 40 years in the Security Business, and decided to give the Computer business a try.
We started The Peifer Store in January, 2009 and the business has really grown. Thanks to some really good customers, some really good suppliers and the best computer man on the Planet. We do not know anything about a computer, so we had to have a good computer person. If we have a problem, just call or E Mail him and he fixes it. That works for us.
I hope all of you like our new Web Site as much as we do. The site is a lot easier to move around in and we have a lot of new products. We have added a line that has been requested. Driftmaster Trolling Systems. It is, I believe, the best Crappie Trolling System on the market.
We also have the complete line of Southern Pro Lures. Our newest Crappie Jig is a 2" Stinger Shad. I have been doing a lot of fishing this fall and winter and this bait really works. In fact, this is probably the best new bait I have ever used. Get this one around a Crappie and its going to get eaten. It comes in 20 different colors and I have only used a few of them. When you are catching fish with what you are using, its hard to change. I have not used one that doesn't get you a bite. Also you need to check out the new colors in the Hot Grub. These are great baits and I believe you will really like the additional colors.
I plan to write something every month about my fishing trips on Fred's Page. If I catch fish I will tell you where, when, what I was using, how I was fishing and how deep the fish were. If I don't catch em I probably won't write anything. Hope to hear from some of you about your trips, and send some pictures, that way I will have something to write about.
Be sure and get your orders in early as the factory sometimes gets behind in the busy season. Thanks for visiting our store and good fishing. Fred & Shirley

This has been a tough spring for me and fishing. I got sick and missed some of the fishing and then we have had a lot of rain. I did however have a couple of real good trips to Mississippi. I have posted some pictures in the Photo Gallery of the trip to Enid Lake. This year the limit was changed to 20 and they added a size limit of 12 inches.
I got a letter from Mike MacKenzie and have his permission to share it with you
Hey Fred, Just got the order today... everything was perfect!!! Went fishing from 11am - 3:30 pm. with my friend Casey. He is an avid angler I know and fish with almost everyday. We were fishing Charcoal Creek in West Swanton VT, which is a washout creek from when the water level goes up in the spring when all the snow and ice melts. We caught yellow perch on our crappie setups for most of the day. I believe the water is still a bit cold for crappie action yet.. From shore we use a 1/32 oz. jighead and a crappie tube rigged underneath a weighted 1" float. Then, around 30 minutes after we got there I figured out the color the perch were hittin'. Caught a 5 gallon bucket of 8-12 inchers on the 1 1/2in. Red/Redsparkle/White with a white jighead. Then... just as the sun started fallin low and the light changed... i switched to the Red/Orange/Pumpkin 1 1/2in. tube, figuring the crappie might react to a slightly darker colorchange and nailed a 13in Black Crappie!!! Finally, the target of all my time spent fishin so far this year was in my bucket. Few more perch... then WAMMO!!! Another 13in. Crappie!! Thats all we caught for crappie but hopefully within the next week or so the action will improve.. we are supposed to get some warm rain Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The warmth and the increased water level should bring them in. ---------- I Attached two PICS of the crappie I caught today... The tackle was GREAT!!! Thank you much... I'll keep you posted on the fishin here in VT... :) -Michael Mackenzie
This trip for Michael was on March 10th of this year. I have his pictures posted in the Photo Gallery. Lately I have been fishing at Norfork Lake in North Central Ark. The fishing has been slow at best. Most of the people who are catching fish are doing so very early. The fishing is usually over by 7:00AM. The Lake is Clear and I beleive the fish were spawning deep. The fish I caught were in the 12 to 20 foot range. The Hot Grubs were working really good early when the fish were a little shallower. After the early bite you had to find brush and work your bait very slow or even under a Cork. The fish you catch are really nice, but the action is slow.
The Enid Lake and Sardis Lake trip was really fun. My Son & Son-in-law went both days. The first day at Enid we caught 60, which was the limit & the Sardis trip we caught 44. We caught most of the fish on the Hot Grub & Crappie Stinger baits.
Normally about this time of the year I start Bream Fishing at Norfork, because they are easy to catch, the size is great and Southern Pro has some really good baits, which work. My trip to Mississippi and always for Crappie as they are easy to Catch all year long. Will let you know how that is working out next time.
